MoU for strategic partnership between RSPO and CFNA

On March 26, 2018, RSPO and one of its key partners in China, the China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in Beijing. This established a five-year framework of strategic partnership between the two parties, to promote various programmes in the sustainable palm oil field. RSPO CEO Darrel Webber and CFNA Chairman Bian Zhenhu each presented at the signing ceremony, exchanging ideas on China’s latest agenda of promoting sustainable palm oil. Both parties agreed to cooperate on promotional activities, dialogue and exchange visits, information sharing, and policy recommendations.

China targeting 10 percent CSPO uptake

RSPO was recently invited by AAK China, a producer of quality vegetable oils, to the 2018 Food Ingredients event in Shanghai, to introduce RSPO membership and its supply chain certification system. More than 100 leading players from China’s food additives and ingredients industry attended the event last March 23. RSPO China’s representative, Yun Jiang, delivered a keynote speech to promote sustainable palm oil and industrial transformation, and to highlight RSPO’s goal of achieving 10 percent Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) uptake in China, the world’s second-largest importer of palm oil, by 2020.
