Lion Corporation

Founded in 1891, Lion Corporation has always been Japan's leading manufacturer of consumer goods, such as oral care, household, beauty care and pharmaceutical products. Its business extends into major Asian countries (ASEAN and Northeast Asia). Lion employs about 7,000 people worldwide. Our net sales in 2017 were ¥410 Billion.

Lion has deep relationship with palm oil. Lion developed MES (Methyl Ester Sulfonate) and MEE (Methyl Ester Ethoxylate), surfactants made from palm oil, because they can be produced without fear of depleting natural resources such as petroleum, and because they can contribute to the prevention of global warming as biomass raw materials. MES and MEE are used in Lion's laundry detergents.
