NTUC Fairprice Co-operative Ltd was founded by the labour movement in 1973, with a social mission to moderate the cost of living in Singapore. From one supermarket, it has grown to become Singapore?s largest retailer serving over half a million shoppers daily. It operates over 300 supermarkets and convenience stores, and caters to over 400,000 FairPrice Online subscribers. NTUC FairPrice also owns a Fresh Food Distribution Centre and a centralised warehousing and distribution company.

Organisation's Commitments Toward Sustainability

  • How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
    Internally, we will announce our membership and progress in converting to RSPO certified palm oil through management meetings and internal communication channels. To external stakeholders, we will make a media release on our membership, update our progress in our annual and sustainability report, and communicate at relevant conferences or speaking platforms whenever possible.
  • Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
    Stakeholders may go through FairPrice?s customer service hotlines or CSR email to escalate any grievances on the use of sustainably produced palm oil.
  • Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
    Whenever possible, FairPrice will work with suppliers who adhere to the RSPO Principles and Criteria for the sourcing of its Housebrand products.
  • Any other information that would support the application such as what your organisation hopes to gain from joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO?
    FairPrice hopes to be a forerunner in demonstrating leadership and advocacy in sourcing sustainable palm oil for the local supermarket retail industry.
