How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
The role of POSYANTEK Desa "Bersama", which is a unit of BUMDes "Kita Mandiri", in promoting RSPO and ISPO program is to conduct socialization through the Farmers Group in Pangkalan Dewa Village to encourage involvement in palm oil certification process. The organisation also supports every step taken by the Farmers Group in the efforts on ISPO and RSPO certification program.
At the external level, we are trying to engage with the government in the village, sub-district, and district level, as well as other government agencies so they would help the community to obtain the necessary documents for RSPO and ISPO certification process. We engage with the private companies to help train the farmers in cultivation and other technical matters to improve the farmers ability in managing the plantation sustainably and better.
Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
We are assuring palm oil companies that after the palm oil farmers get certified, the quality of the FFB will be better and in accordance to the companies' standards. Therefore, the companies will be able to obtain advantages from purchasing palm oil from smallhodlers in Pangkalan Dewa Village.
In conflict resolution, POSYANTEK Desa "Bersama" always stresses to the parties involved to sit together and talk through the conflict based on the existing evidence and facts.
Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
The POSYANTEK which is an appropriate technology services unit, in this case called as ICS, will accompany the smallholders in implementing ISPO and RSPO principles, from giving cultivation, HCV, PHT, and personal protective equipment trainings. In the process, POSYANTEK Desa "Bersama" will assist the smallholders technically in the field so the smallholders are able to cultivate oil palms with good practice, protect the environment, and produce sustainable oil palms.
Any other information that would support the application such as what your organisation hopes to gain from joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO?
Oil palms give economic benefits, for the environment and the smallholders themselves. Our biggest hope is the smallholders under this organisation will become sustainable, environmental-friendly, and social smallholders.
