Organisation's Commitments Toward Sustainability

  • How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
Musim Mas is committed to maintaining 100% RSPO certification of all our plantations and mills. As a member of the Palm Oil Innovation Group (POIG), we strive to achieve the adoption of responsible palm oil production practices by building upon RSPO, and creating and promoting innovations.
  • Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
As part of our Sustainability Policy published in December 2014, we launched an integrated grievance mechanism as a platform for stakeholders to inform us of issues in our supply chain, both for our operations and those of our third-party suppliers. The grievance mechanism provides a systematic and fair approach in the treatment of grievances from the point of receiving the complaints. Additionally, we are committed to working with our third-party suppliers to encourage them to progress further in their sustainability journey.
  • Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
Our journey towards sustainability began in 2004, when we became the first Indonesian palm oil company to join the newly established RSPO and that our Executive Chairman sat on the Executive Board of RSPO too. We were the first Indonesian grower certified against the RSPO P&Cs, certifying our first estates and plasma smallholders in 2009 and 2010 respectively, and completing certification for our mills in 2012.

Our Sustainability Policy affirms our commitment towards the RSPO P&Cs and also goes beyond the P&Cs, by extending the commitment to create transformation in our third-party supply base.
  • Any other information that would support the application such as what your organisation hopes to gain from joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO?
We believe that taking the lead is good for our business and that by being active in the conversations that are taking place within RSPO, we are in a better position to create change on the ground.
