Greencore Group plc is a leading international manufacturer of convenience foods. We have 14 manufacturing sites in the UK and the US; and employ in excess of 7,000 people. The Convenience Foods Division provides a wide range of chilled, frozen and ambient foods to major retail, manufacturing and foodservice customers in the UK and Ireland, as well as many in Continental Europe, the US and beyond. Organisation's Commitments Toward Sustainability

  • How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
    Greencore has reached an agreement with New Britain Palm Oil via our shortnening suppliers to work together to promote affordable sustainable palm oil for all sectors of the food industry. We are the leading manufacturuer of Quiche in the UK and want to use that position to lead the way in sustainable palm oil in futher manufactured products.
  • Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
    Greencore has already been in discussions to have a supply arrangement with the UK’s only refiner/supplier of sustainable palm oil, once production commences from the new refiner. We would aim to use only sustainable palm oil in all our quiche products.
  • Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
    Greencore are fully committed to working with the RSPO to fulfill its requirements and were possible to work with New Britain Palm oil. We have mature and advanced supplier assessment tools and will utilise these in managing our sustainaable palm oil route to market. We will conduct regular audits to ensure the provenance of supply.
  • Any other information that would support the application such as what your organisation hopes to gain from joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO?
    We recognize that there is an increasing appetite from UK customers for the supply of sustainable products, Greencore are committed to working with these customers to offer a range of sustainable products. We will engage with our retail customers and exceed their requirements and timescales for implementation of a sustainble RSPO supply.
