    Organisation's Commitments Toward Sustainability

  • How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
East Coast Bakehouse strongly believe in manufacturing in a responsible and sustainable environment. Activities conducted on site include production, sales, marketing, procurement, customer service, technical, new product development, finance, warehousing and distribution. All documents (recipes, product specifications atd.) containing RSPO palm oil are labelled accordingly. Product labels will declare RSPO oil.
Our customer base may include but is not limited to retailers, wholesalers and food service.
  • Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
We, in East Coast Bakehouse, only use sustainable palm oil. Our supplier was approved as per our Supplier Approval Procedure. We have Quality System and Incident Management Procedure is part of it.
  • Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
East Coast Bakehouse will develop a documented procedure that covers all the applicable requirements. A template for our mass balance credit account are available. The company will identify an RSPO supplier, request and verify specifications that confirm that the material is RSPO certified.
The purchasing, sales and traceability systems will be updated to accommodate RSPO requirements.
We will ensure that all employees involved in the purchase, verification and sales of RSPO ingredients and products are trained.
We review our suppliers annually against set criteria.
  • Any other information that would support the application such as what your organisation hopes to gain from joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO?
East Coast Bakehouse strongly oppose the deforestation and exploitation that occur in the production of palm oil. Being a member of the RSPO we believe we can help to improve current situation such as avoid uncontrollable fires and respect the rights of workers and indigenous peoples. We want to take responsibility as a producer and push for a sustainable production of palm oil. We believe that we can do the most good by purchasing certified palm oil.
We are a small purchaser of palm oil, but with our commitment we believe that we can have a positive influence on sustainably produced palm oil.
