Organisation's Commitments Toward Sustainability

  • How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
Solvay fully supports the use of RSPO certified sources of pal and palm kernel oil. Solvay is making a lot of efforts to communicate about its commitment to RSPO both internally and externally. We educate our employees on the issues linked to palm cultivation and our efforts with the RSPO to find solutions. We also promote RSPO to our stakeholders.
  • Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
We recognize RSPO principles & criteria and RSPO Certification as evidences of
sustainable sourcing as stated in our sourcing statement available in Solvay's website: http://www.solvay.com/en/binaries/20170215_Sustainable_Sourcing_Statement-303061.pdf. Solvay presents the RSPO principles of sustainable palm oil when dealing with NGOs or other key concerned stakeholders.
  • Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
We are assessing our suppliers through interviews and questionnaires. We have included RSPO principles and criteria in our assessment questions and rank them according to their sustainability level, among other criteria. We are working with our current suppliers to push them to respect RSPO P&Cs.
  • Any other information that would support the application such as what your organisation hopes to gain from joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO?
