Organisation's Commitments Toward Sustainability

  • How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
As members we will be able to use the RSPO logo on our paperwork and packaging and this is easily identifiable in the marketplace and we believe will promote RSPO and discussion of RSPO within the industry.
In addition, we will have staff training plan in place to make staff aware about RSPO requirements to promote RSPO within the company.
  • Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
We currently source Palm Oil products from 3 suppliers and they are RSPO members with current certifications. One supplies a segregated chocolate product and the other is a mass balance margarine
Professional advise will also be taken from external consultants where needed to resolve conflicting situations.
  • Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
Our team possess a sound understanding of the RSPO standard requirements and prepare, implement required procedures with collaboration of ongoing staff training. This will include relevant monitoring activities, document reviews for traceability and supplier performance.
We also are working towards our first RSPO audit at present and expect to have our document review in preparation for the audit in the coming weeks.
  • Any other information that would support the application such as what your organisation hopes to gain from joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO?
Heather Brae Shortbreads wants to obtain membership and gain certification to further our relationship with the national supermarkets that we currently supply. ALDI Supermarkets requires RSPO certification by the end of 2014 and the other supermarkets will follow in the next couple of years. We hope to be certified ahead of their requirements and be a leader in manufacturing of biscuits and tarts.
