How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
Internally, we will communicate information about RSPO to the company’s senior executive team, to subsidiary presidents and to all other appropriate subsidiary and corporate staff and keep them abreast of pertinent changes and updates. Externally, RSPO membership will be promoted on our corporate web site (flowersfoods.com), in our annual sustainability report and to our customers.
Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
We will use our established internal and external communications vehicles to address questions on palm oil sustainability.
Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
Flowers Foods is committed to follow the principles and criteria and to procuring palm oil from RSPO-member suppliers. We will communicate this commitment to our subsidiaries and customers and will establish appropriate internal auditing procedures.
Any other information that would support the application such as what your organisation hopes to gain from joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO?
Joining RSPO fits with Flowers Foods efforts to apply sustainability principles to all aspects of its business. We recognize that without a healthy environment, our company cannot be successful, and we encourage our team members and business partners to conserve natural resources and prevent waste. We believe all our efforts in this area make us a stronger company, and over the long term, increase profitability and increase shareholder value.
