Organisation's Commitments Toward Sustainability

  • How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
    The use of RSPO certified products is mentioned in our company goals for this year and the years to come. The use of sustainable raw materials is part of the annual training which must be followed by all employees. All the key players (people who decide about raw materials, purchase materials, are responsible for registration of the use, people from sales department etc.) are trained to act according to the rules mentioned in the Code of Conduct. The use of RSPO certified materials is part of the discussions with our clients for many years now and will stay on the agenda.
  • Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
    Merba produces products according to the specifications of our clients. If they choose for sustainable raw materials, we must be able to handle this certified raw materials. Merba is audited by an external certification company in order to prove that we handle, registered en guarantee full trace ability of all raw materials including RSPO certified products.
  • Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
    The production of good tasting cookies for our customers is our main goal. We are certified for BRC and IFS for many years now in order to guarantee to our customers that food safe working is very important for us. Being a member of RSPO will guarantee our customers that we want to (and are able to) work, together with them, towards a better sustainable world.
  • Any other information that would support the application such as what your organisation hopes to gain from joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO?
    Merba is a modern, fully automated "old" family company (founded in 1920), lead by two owners / directors from the families Boerman and one director who joined the company more than 10 years ago and is also an important shareholder.

    Our company has sustainability as one of the main principles and recognizes this in the RSPO principles. For that reason we support RSPO and want to be a Member.
