PT. Sampoerna Agro Tbk


PTÂ Sampoerna Agro is located in South Sumatra, Indonesia, in the district of Ogan Komering Ilir. As at Dec 2006, it has a total planted area of 60,150 hectare oil palm plantations, of which 39,927 ha belongs to smallholders (plasma) and 20,223 ha belongs to the company. Ninety percent of this planted hectarage is mature. Currently, the total milling capacity of PTÂ Sampoerna Agro Group is 320 tonnes FFB per hour. PTÂ Sampoerna Agro produces Crude Palm Oil, Palm Kernel and oil palm planting material (DxP Sriwijaya 1 to DxP Sriwijaya 5).

Continuous active roles of PT Sampoerna Agro in plasma operation, applying the companiesâ?? best practices in the early stage of plantation development, implementing an open and transparent management and production system, results in mutual benefits for plasma smallholders as well as for the companies. To date, there are more than 20,000 families belonging to PT Sampoerna Agro scheme and 75% have repaid their loans to the state-owned government bank.

Organisation's Commitments Toward Sustainability

  • How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
    We promote RSPO through training to all staff, and other kinds of awareness methods: sustanability report in annual company report, sighpost, banner, signs, etc.
  • Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
    We have CAS (Corporate Affair Services) Department which responsible for stakeholder engagement.
  • Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
    We implement the RSPO P & C to all subsidiary company, and do the internal audit for RSPO.
  • Any other information that would support the application such as what your organisation hopes to gain from joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO?
    We hope by joining RSPO we can convince all stakeholder that we operate the bussiness in sustainable way. We also need RSPO suport for this matter.
