Hacienda la Cabaña is Agro-industrial company that produces and markets palm oil and other products derived from process. Works since 1960 and currently has 5520 hectares of African palm and high oleic palm and a mill with a capacity of 30 tons / hour.

Organisation's Commitments Toward Sustainability

  • How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
    Hacienda La Cabana began a process of implementation of the principles and criteria of the RSPO in November 2010. With this assistance are including sustainability criteria in all operations of the company and staff are being trained in the subject. The company is also advancing this process with its suppliers and the communities in the area of influence, through the implementation of environmental and social programs that will allow all activities of the company and its area of influence meet sustainability criteria protection of natural resources and people who engage in the activity.
  • Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
    The company began a process of implementation of the principles and criteria of the RSPO in November 2010. This process will continue in 2012, when the company expects to RSPO certified (sustainable production of palm oil). The process of implementing the RSPO includes introducing work practices for sustainable production of fruit vendors began with the development of a diagnosis in sustainability. From this analysis, priority was given to environmental and social issues (occupational health programs, use of chemicals, hazardous waste management and protection of water sources) to work with suppliers on technical assistance unit environmental and corporate social in 2011 and 2012.
  • Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
    Hacienda La Cabana launched in the month of November 2010, a process of support to implement the principles and criteria of the RSPO. During this process, we have worked environmental and social aspects which includes the RSPO, and have been incorporated into the processes and procedures for the operation of the company, both in the plantation and extraction plant. This, coupled with a previous process of incorporation of corporate social responsibility criteria made during the years 2009 and 2010, has allowed sustainability to become part of the management system of Hacienda La Cabaña. The company plans to begin the RSPO certification process in the second half of 2012.

    Report is attached spreadsheet RSPO process of implementing the first half of 2011 prepared by the consulting firm in implementing the principles and criteria of the RSPO.
