As a part of the RSPO 'Youth for Sustainability' and ‘Responsible Shopping’ initiative in India, our team met the alumni of the Young India Challenge community in Mumbai to discuss the role of youth for sustainable consumption and production.
Some of the youth influencers from this group will be analyzing the recently done Palm Oil Consumer Survey by WWF-India and driving the brands and consumers outreach programme in this market for RSPO and Centre for Responsible Business.
On Saturday, the 'Youth for Sustainability' meet-up was organized in New Delhi to discuss the role of young people for responsible consumption and production.
Some interesting ideas came up during the brainstorm, like dedicating something like 'Sustainable Economic Zones' for palm oil production, farmers leasing out land to companies by forming farmers cooperative organizations, learning sustainable agriculture practices and getting a stable income, the government making a law for sustainable sourcing and production, brands educating consumers about good and bad palm oil.
In the next phase, some of the youth influencers will be driving the discussion on social media to get more feedback and ideas from their social circle for consumer education campaigns.
