Organisation's Commitments Toward Sustainability
View all responses
How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
We have already initiated the efforts and commitments to internalize the RSPO P&C into our various management policies and standard operation procedures which would enable our mills and estates to carry out their daily operations and activities with all the good management elements and practices laid down by RSPO P&C.
As part of RSPO requirement, our estates and mill in Pahang have engaged the officials from Pahang State Forestry Department, Wildlife Department and Department of Environment to brief them on the RSPO practices that we have initiated in our estates and mill. The officials were glad to learn what RSPO is all about from our Managers and Assistants and their responses were generally very positive towards RSPO.
Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
Our mill and five estates in Pahang have undergone the final assessment for RSPO certification by SGS. Amid our assessment report had been submitted by SGS in July 2009, the issuance of RSPO certificate is still being awaited. With the already initiated processes of RSPO preparation, assessment and certification, we are definitely adopting practices contain in the RSPO P&C.
Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
Pending the issuance of RSPO certificate for our Carotino Mill, we are in the midst of planning and preparing our mills and estates in Sabah for the next phase of certification.
Any other information that would support the application such as what your organisation hopes to gain from joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO?
We were already a RSPO member since 2006.
