Our activities are discussed and shared internally through a specific internal CSR communications plan, and externally through our annual Sustainability Report, within our GRI Report and on our corporate website www.croda.com. We also respond to RSPO’s Annual Communications of Progress (ACOP) report and sit on both the RSPO Derivatives Workgroup and the UK Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil.
As a result of this activity, our manufacturing site in Singapore, Rawcliffe Bridge UK, Mill Hall USA and Atlas Point USA are RSPO Supply Chain Certified to handle sustainable PO/PKO derivatives via Mass Balance and we are actively working on a roll-out programme for all relevant Croda sites to be certified by 2015. We can therefore already offer a wide range of products supporting Sustainable Palm.
For the very small volumes of pure PO and PKO consumed we purchase GreenPalm certificates and we are discussing with suppliers to move to Mass Balance, Segregated or Identity Preserved material.
We are continuing to provide data to our customers on equivalent volumes of PO and PKO in the derivatives we use, which we have been doing since early 2011 with a methodology that aligns to those later approved by RSPO. This allows our customers to implement the GreenPalm/Book&Claim certification route for their finished/consumer products.
We will continue to publish progress through our reporting framework both in our printed documents and online, which will include RSPO’s ACOP.
Discussions will continue with our suppliers to obtain sustainable CSPO and derivatives and we will continue to support our customers as they work towards certifying their finished/consumer products.
We have a very extensive sustainability strategy, where CSPO is a key part of our Product Design material area. The responsible sourcing of raw materials is a top priority for us, it is part of our heritage and we hold a unique position within our industry by having c.70% of our raw materials derived from renewable sources. It will remain central to our future success, as we position ourselves as innovators for a sustainable future.
