     Information of Organisation
Headquartered in Birmingham 2 Sisters Food Group was established in 1993 by our Chief Executive, Ranjit Singh, and remains a privately owned company. During this period the company has evolved from a small scale frozen retail cutting operation to a world class food company, serving the retail, foodservice and manufacturing sectors. Today we are a diversified food manufacturer with strong market positions in Poultry, Chilled, Bakery and Frozen categories. We focus on delivering the highest quality product to our customers at the lowest cost. Our UK customers include Aldi, Asda, British Airways, Costa, Harrods, KFC, Lidl, Marks & Spencer, Morrisons, Sainsburys, Tesco and Waitrose. 2 Sisters Food Group has 35 manufacturing sites in the UK and Ireland, six in Holland and one in Poland. The group employs around 18,000 people and annual sales are now over £2.1 billion following the acquisition of Northern Foods in April 2011. Although we are predominantly a private label manufacturer, we produce a number of branded products including Buxted, Devonshire Red, Fox’s Biscuits, Goodfella’s Pizza, Matthew Walker Christmas puddings and Green Isle vegetables

Our Community and Environment agenda focuses on 2 Sisters being a good neighbour, becoming a better citizen of the planet, a better producer, offering a better place to work and, most important of all, keeping the customer at the heart of everything we do to deliver the highest quality at the lowest cost. Over recent years we have been recognised for our actions, including in 2010, when our chilled and branded sites were ranked, for the second successive year, in the gold band of Business in the Community’s annual Corporate Responsibility Index, the UK’s leading voluntary benchmark of corporate responsibility. The four principal pillars of corporate responsibility recommended by Business in the Community are listed below together with a brief description of our interpretation of each one. Environment – limiting our impact on the planet Marketplace – making good food sustainably and ethically Workplace – being a great place to work Community – helping young people learn about food and the food industry Environment We work closely with a range of stakeholders, including the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). In practical terms, as we strive to make our operations more efficient we are embracing the latest production methods and technologies, which invariably help us to use less energy and water, and produce less waste. But we are going much further than that by promoting behavioural change across our business, to drive down waste and its effect on the environment. Marketplace Each year we spend £millions on raw materials, which means that our procurement and supplier audit teams have to be among the best in the industry. We use the guidance to audit suppliers and ensure that together we achieve the quality standards our customers require in a sustainable manner. No genetically modified ingredients – We source only non-genetically modified ingredients for all the products we manufacture, and we require our suppliers to provide evidence, by audit and testing, that no genetically modified organisms are used in the supply chain. Free-range eggs – we do not source any eggs from suppliers where eggs are laid by hens in battery cages. In fact some parts of our business have won awards for their cage free egg sourcing (Fox’s – The Good Egg award) Sustainable palm oil – Palm oil is an increasingly attractive ingredient because of its low levels of saturated fat, but using it can create sustainability issues because it is grown in areas of tropical rainforest. Since January 2010 all of our bulk, raw palm oil has been sourced from sustainable supplies. Workplace A healthy and productive workplace is essential to a business employing around 18,000 people. We believe that nothing is more important than the health and safety of our colleagues and that the delivery of a positive safety culture demonstrates respect for colleagues. Community As a major food manufacturer and an employer of around 18,000 people across 42 operating sites, 2 Sisters wants to have a positive impact on the community both at a national and local level. We have focused our activity to help consumers make informed choices about what they eat. Our commitment to healthy balanced lifestyles reflect these responsibilities to consumers and addresses the Government\'s challenge to business through its 2004 White Paper, \'Choosing Health\' which states that the UK Food industry should help in changing UK dietary habits. Consequently, we work in partnership with Phunky Foods who have developed a nutritional educational programme for primary schools. Other examples include partnering with an inner city school in the West Midlands and a number of our individual sites also work closely with the communities where they operate. Agriculture At 2 Sisters we know our expertise is in processing so we work with experts in other fields to ensure that our supply chain is as effective and efficient as possible. This allows us to produce high quality at lowest cost. We work with the best in hatching, farming, animal husbandry and transport, so we can focus on what we do best. Our agricultural partners manage centres of excellence and apply best principles in terms of animal welfare and food safety. They cover a wide range of production systems ranging from farm assured, through to free range, freedom food, corn fed and organic. All elements of the supply chain have to adhere to our strict protocols together with customer specifications and codes of practice. They are independently and regularly audited. Food safety standards and HACCP principles apply across the agriculture operation and consumers can be assured of the provenance and traceability of our chicken.
