RT2 a Resounding Success!!

The 2nd Roundtable Meeting (RT2) on Sustainable Palm Oil held on 5th and 6th October, 2004 in Jakarta, Indonesia was a tremendous success! The meeting attracted the participation of about 300 people  from 17 countries representing various stakeholders along the palm oil supply chain, particularly producers and NGOs. RT2 was officially opened by H.E. Prof Dr Ir Bungaran Saragih, Minister of Agriculture, Republic of Indonesia. In concluding his keynote address, the Hon Minister made a special request to the Organizers of RT2 to “...discuss steps towards the development of a protocol for good agricultural practice in the oil industry. I understand this is not an easy task. But I am optimistic the participants of this Roundtable are highly competent for such an important task..."
